"So much to love about Villa Ginepraie" Bebhinn C Melbourne, Australia 4-5-2014
Our family of 2 adults and 2 children rented the farmhouse in mid-April for 10 days.
In the lead up to our holiday, our hosts were endlessly helpful and upon arrival Paola and Valerio continued to make our Tuscan adventure a seamless one.
The accommodation was spacious and comfortable, the kitchen well stocked with a surplus of crockery, cutlery and cookware, the bathrooms modern and the fireplace much used in the brisk April evenings.
The surrounding hilly outlook was like a postcard and exactly as we imagined Tuscany to be with days ending with blazing sunsets.
Villa Ginepraie is well located for day trips to Volterra and San Gimignano - driving around the winding roads of Tuscany for the uninitiated is... well... interesting.
Our stay was a little pre-season for Tuscany and Valerio went to great lengths to help us find an available Horse Riding stable that was open and that would accommodate our young children. He even drove there with us and served as translator which was immensely helpful.
Discovered too late was the delicious food that will be prepared by Paola on request in the restaurant adjacent to the villa. We only had lunch at Ginepraie once, it was our favourite meal of our stay - the chocolate fondant was divinity on a plate!
The weather was not warm enough for the pool - it just sat there, taunting us, goading us to come back again some day at a warmer time. We might just do that!
It's our first time to stay in a farmhouse and we found that experience so special. You feel you have a small slope on your own& enjoy the space and open view of the farms & cypress. The host is very friendly & helpful, the breakfast is exceptionally good & prepared with heart. We enjoyed our stay very much & we miss the cat there. Highly recommend.
Villa le Ginepraie is what all the others have already stated.
Val and Paola are so sincere and genuine that you feel like family. They do give you space so you feel like you have the whole place to yourself, but if you need to knock on their door they drop everything to assist you with your needs.
We had a private tour of the whole place, and every room is wonderful. The beds are very spacious (king size) and the rooms even bigger. All bathrooms are perfectly arranged and modern. The house is authentic Tuscan farm style, however everything is modern necessities. The feel of old (original ceilings, windows and doors) mixed with brand new counters, beds, showers, etc. So amazing!
The villa is out in the country side, so it is quiet and relaxing. Complete serenity. 5 mins drive is a little villa with a bottega and small bar but you can stop in and pick up necessities. Volterra and San Giminagno are within 20 min drive and they are beautiful!
My family (parents and husband) stayed for a week while traveling through Europe and we wish we had a least one more week to relax and enjoy.
Valerio and Paola are fantastic hosts! Stay here and you will find yourself writing a 5 star review in no time.
We planned this trip in early summer. Val, the owner, with his wife Paola, were very helpful answering questions prior to booking our trip. We were a group of 10, and with very different personalities, the questions reflected that. Val answered all questions, politely and quickly. The Villa lives up to the photos and it's offerings. Both Val and Paola treated us like family and not guests. They were helpful in planning our short trips in the region and calling ahead to guarantee a table and a good reception at local restaurants. Paola prepared one fabulous meal for us and the party continued all week. I can only recommend Le Ginepraie as one of the most restful and beautiful vacations we have ever taken. Wish we had more time to sight see and relax at the pool. It will have to wait till next time.
This is a must stop for anyone wanting a superior experience in Tuscany. The villa is outrageously beautiful, set among green rolling hills that you could swear were taken from a postcard. The hosts, Val and Paola, and their adorable daughter Viola, were the most welcoming of Italian ambassadors; they willingly gave of their time, their experience and their warmth. They directed us to local restaurants, one of which we ate at three times during our one week stay because it was so good. They were patient beyond belief with our questions and need for directions! We enjoyed their suggestions for sight seeing and wine tasting more than we could have imagined. They made this 'once in a lifetime vacation' a true 'once in a lifetime experience'.
Villa le Ginepraie is amazing. The facilities are unmatched . Many rooms are suites with full kitchens, lounge areas and beautiful bathrooms. The countryside where it is located is incredible.
I have been to many countries and Tuscany is by far the most beautiful of all.
Even more than the villa itself, the owners Paola and Val couldn't be any nicer. Paola is a wonderful chef (I taught culinary arts for 8 years) and provided us with an evening of a dinner that was excellent in every respect. I just can't say enough good things about our time there. If you are looking for a fantastic experience in Tuscany you won't go wrong if you stay at Villa le Ginepraie! One last thing, if you are into Yoga, speak to Val who was trained in India. Some of our friends took advantage of this one morning by the pool.

We rent the whole villa in August. It's located in the middle of the real Tuscany with its amazing and fantastic landscapes and views. It s even more beautiful than the pictures on the website.
Everything was perfect, the villa, the pool,...Do not hesitate to rent it, the hosts are so charming.
just one thing not to mention: there is no internet connection so do not forget to prepare you trip and visits in advance
We spent the most wonderful week at this delightful villa. It is more like a hotel in its standard of accommodation - large rooms, comfy beds, well-equipped kitchens, large showers, everything pristine clean. The owners who live close by are the most wonderful and welcoming hosts; polite, charming, full of useful information about the locality. Paola's cooking is sensational. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They have managed to achieve a perfect balance between remaining out of sight but being there when you want or need them. There is so much for children to do and so much for adults to explore nearby; the gardens too are beautifully tended and the pool area is perfect. Situated halfway between the two stunning towns of Volterra and San Gimignano. I could not say enough good things about Villa le Ginepraie. A wonderful welcome and experience awaits you.
Our family of six adults stayed in The Villa Ginepraie for a week in June 2013 .I find it hard to put into words how beautiful it was. The pictures on the web site are all true but they cannot possibly do it justice. It is all so much better ,the decor , the pool, the wonderful country side is amazing.We rented the whole villa for the six of us and found each apartment was very big and contained everything needed. We would visit lovely little towns like Volterra,Lucca,Siena,and Pisa which are all only a short drive away then come back to the peaceful villa for a swim in the late afternoon. Paola and Valerio and their beautiful little daughter were delightful and helpful hosts and the dinner Paola cooked for us was delicious .This was a holiday we will all remember as one of the best ever . Picture book countryside ,lovely villa, towns and little resterants close by .It is truly a Tuscan paradise. Hopefully one day we will be able to return. Thank you Paola and Valerio.
We celebrated my 60 th birthday with 10 family members: with the three boys of us and their wonderful girlfriends and another young couple.
The villa was the perfect setting for our holiday,situated in the lovely tuscany countryside; at several evenings we could watch deers coming out of the forrest to feed on the grass just a few hundered meters away.
The large pool was a steasdy source for fun, well maintained by Valerio who was our outstanding landlord: he was a perfect resource of advice for our trips and activities ( horse riding, trapp shooting,restaurants, wine tasting....) Valerio and Paola were the most wonderful hosts, very decent, always helpful and full of Italian spirit and humour.The secret extra was the most lovely tomcat we ever met:it strolled over to us and became part of our family in this week
The Villa is very well equipped with all kind of kitchen devices so it was very enjoyable to prepare the meals for even this large group.
Valerio took care for a good supply on firewood so we could use the three fire chimneys at several romantic evening sessions,and we had additional access to a barbecue , we even tried once to bake pizza ( with limited success)
The spacious ground was perfect for all kind of sport activities like volleyball or speedminton, during our stay there was not as much wind as we expected from the villas video ( even our skite did not work)
The area around the Villa is less populated than the southern part of Tuscany, so it may take around 15 minutes for the shopping in Volterra or San Gimingiano, we visited additionally Pisa , Firenze, Livorno and Lucca and some of our youngsters made a trip to the sea.
We had a really exceptionnaly nice holiday - the wonderful hosts , the spacious and well kept villa and the calm environement was for us the perfect setting. We will recommend this villa to our friends - and say "millelgracie " to our outstanding italian couple Valerio and Paola
Stayed in the Villa le Ginepraie for a week in August and had a fantastic time. We shared the villa with our friends and both families enjoyed a great holiday. The villa is situated just off the beaten track a few kilometres from Volterra in Tuscany, on a peaceful rolling tuscan hill, but it is easy to reach Volterra, Siena or St Gigmangno. It really is the Tuscany you see in all the brochures.
The villa is beautifully appointed and decorated but very easy to live in and it has a large pool that our children loved. Both families have teenage children.
The villa was well equipped, as we had the whole villa we had a choice of kitchens! The whole place is very clean, tidy and well maintained
Valerio and Paola are excellent hosts, helpful when you need it, but never obtrusive and they speak good english.
There are plenty of restaurants in the area, wine tasting, olive oil tasting, local sights and events to keep you busy if you want to. Try to visit the eccentric cheese maker nearby he is a real character.
We very much hope to go back again one day.
I absolutely loved this place. Valerio and Paola have a truly remarkable Tuscan experience to share--private dirt road, pristine pool overlooking rolling hills, a lovely breakfast cottage and a perfect location between Volterra and San Gigmangno. My family of 5 stayed in the sunflower room which was spotless and very comfortable. The kitchen had wine and water for us on arrival. Valerio would make a breakfast every morning for my family included a new pastry made by Paola (fig tart, strudel etc). We went off to a village in the morning then returned for a swim then went off to a different village for sunset and dinner. We did a easy daytrip into Florence from here. Valerio was just wonderful in attending to our needs and answering questions. Extremely helpful. I wish we stayed longer and we will definitely be back.
We stayed for 3 nights in April in Apartment Girasole. Everything was as advertised - lovely big apartment with good quality bathroom and kitchen with all essential equipment. Valerio is very helpful and does everything to ensure his guests enjoy their holiday. It is a beautiful part of the country, very peaceful but close enough to visit all the tuscan...
We stayed for a week at this gorgeous villa. We rented the whole place, which was amazing. Valero and his wife could not have been any kinder or sweeter to us! They went out of their way to help us plan our trip and provided us with directions and ideas to help make our trip even better. I loved all of the room! My daughter and I stayed in The Green Room, which was the perfect size for us. The food was amazing, and valero's wife made an amazing pear torte for breakfast! She handmade us breakfast treats everyday!
The villa is centrally located too. It's about 15 minutes from the beautiful town of Voltera. The scenery is breath taking. I cannot believe how pretty the countryside of Tuscany was.
The website is completely honest. What you see of the page is real and no catches. A simply beautiful place to stay!
O the view at the Villa is breath taking. It is a place where you forget time. It is so peaceful and quiet you feel so relax while you are there. Every morning for breakfast Valerio would greet us with a smile. He treated us like family. Valerio arrange our cooking course with Gigi . That was one of highlights of the trip. Also set up our wine tasting tour it too was great. All I can say best trip I ever had. So if you are looking for a Villa in Tuscany this is the place to stay. I highly recommend Villa le Ginepraie . I miss Valerio and his wife already they were great guest hosts.
What a wonderful and relaxing place to vacation. Valerio and Paola treat you like family, and you never feel uncomfortable. The rooms were relaxing and so beautiful. The views from the Villa are spectacular and picture perfect. I recommend the cooking classes, (I have a special place in my heart for the Chef), Take the wine tour, especially with Silvia, what a delightful lady. Each moment we spent in the Villa le Ginepraie was a special moment, a snapshot in time that we will always remember. A definite must if you are in Italy, especially if you appreciate gracious hosts, spectacular views, relaxing rooms, and a once in a lifetime experience.
A truly delightful villa in a beautiful setting. We've recently returned from our second visit to Le Ginepraie and found it even more enchanting than the first time. Over the years we've stayed at some stunning places in Italy and France but Le Ginepraie stands way above all the rest. Put simply, it's the only place we've wanted to visit again.
Set in rolling Tuscan countryside near the hamlet of Pignano, this is a holiday location for those who want to relax away from the world. Yet, for those who want a break from lounging by the pool, the major attractions of Siena and Florence are less than an hour away, with the hill towns of San Gimignano, Volterra and Monteriggioni being much closer.
The accommodation is faultless and elegantly decorated and furnished. We're thinking of making our next visit in Spring, Autumn or Winter in order to make more use of the interior. Because in Summer, life is spent outside. We take our meals, apart from some poolside refreshment, in the loggia (including some of the preparation). There is a terrace for those who like to be in full sun. And cooking outside is possible with either the barbecue or wood-fired oven. The latter takes a bit to get used to but after a couple of attempts a fresh-made pizza is sublime.
But what makes Le Ginepraie extra special are the owners, Valerio and Paola. Their enthusiasm for life and the locale is infectious. They are unobtrusive, yet are there anytime for help and guidance (from ideas for walks to restaurant bookings). This adds another dimension to a wonderful destination.
I have no doubt that we will return.
Room tip: Rosso Fiorentino is the most elegant but all rooms are well decorated and furnished
We are never forgetting the wonderful days we have spent in this typical Tuscan villa, not only because of the place itself but also because of Paola and Valerio warmness. The house is a wonderful one, fully refurnished and lovely decorated. It is surrounded by incredible countryside with deers, rabbits, horses...Furthermore it is perfectly located, quite easy to reach from Pisa and Firenze and also close to Volterra, San Gimigniano...(from Barcelona, we took a flight from Girona to Pisa and rented a car at Pisa airport). All the area was so silent that we slept for hours and hours...Definitely this is the perfect place to choose when visiting la Toscana! We hope to be back again
Room tip: We stayed at the "sunflower apartment", really sunny, wide and perfectly equipped and decorated. It's a perfect place for a family with children and for cooking thinking of them. The view from the windows is simply a dream and by night we explained fairy tales beside the fire-place...Besides, heating works perfectly, so you can also enjoy it in winter.
We stayed here with family and friends in Aug 2011. The villa is lovely and Valerio was really friendly and helpful in all respects. We made good use of the pool and loved using the pizza oven for cooking during our stay. The children enjoyed horse riding at Pignano (a short walk away) and we enjoyed seeing the scenery in the surrounding area by hiring a quad bike from the villa (both of which Valerio helped organise along with a trip to some local small lakes which we swam in). We had a lovely holiday and hope to return one day !
Nice house with a lot of bedrooms . Each one had his own privacy. The owner, Valerio (and his pregnant wife...) is very kind. Take the breakfast, easy and delicious! Ask your question and Valerio answer immediately (and try to help you to find the best way for you ). quiet. Nice retaurant, cheap, about five minutes away ...Enjoy this house! JM
I think I've been very lucky in finding villa le ginepraie because it's really my dream tuscan villa!I've stayed there for a week in Rosso Fiorentino apartment:the room is so romantic and the entire apartment is very charming and comfortable. I loved the panoramic swimming pool,the delicious local cuisine and the strategic location between the two most enchanting tuscan places: Volterra and San Gimignano! Lovely owners,enchanting panorama and charming apartments: i suggest it!
I cannot begin to describe the beauty of the Tuscan countryside and Villa Le Ginepraie. We were greeted by a wonderful, hospitable Val who answered all our questions and helped us make the most a stay that was too short. If you are considering a stay in Tuscany make sure you stay here! I recommend you have a hire car while you're there to enjoy places like Siena and Cortona and make sure you stay longer than 3 days. We will definitely return!
My wife and I spent 5 days at the villa of Paulita and Valerio. It was a great time of year to be there.
Weather was great and we were really the only ones. Valerio and Paulita were so accommodating and nice.
We wanted to do a pizza cooking class and they set up a personal training with a local pizza restaurant. They even came and translated!
I think we became good friends and hope to see them again soon.
We recently stayed at Valerio and Paola's wonderful villa in the heart of Tuscany and could not have been happier.
Our room was spacious, immaculate, and inviting, with a divinely comfortable bed. The views in all directions were postcard perfect - classic Tuscany.
The breakfasts were delicious with a special surprise baked fresh each morning by Paola.
Valerio and Paola, who both speak English, are genuinely warm and gracious hosts who went out of their way to ensure that we had a memorable stay. Stop looking; this is the place! You will love staying here.

The surrounding land and views are gorgeous, the villa was spotless, large and comfortable, and Paola and Valerio are the kindest people. We had so much fun staying here and were able to relax while also seeing Siena, Lucca, Volterra and San Gimignano.
Definitely have a meal at the villa if you can arrange it- Paola is an amazing chef!

A great house with fantastic scenery! We where 3 families with children aging from 1 to 15.
With separated apartments and an nice outdoor area this worked out perfect for us.
The location is very good with several different towns/cities to visit within a short range (Pisa, Volterra, Florenze, Siena, San Gimnigano).
Paola and Valerio (who owns the villa) gave us the best service and tributed to making our vacation perfect!

The place is amazing and Valerio and Paola are the best people on earth. Paola is a great cooker, a real chef, we had a really nice cook lesson by her, and we can't wait to try her receipes at home now.
We were a 9 people family with baby, ans it was just the perfect place, big apartments, top quality service, awesome view and near of the points of interest in Tuscany.

Villa Le Ginepraie was recommended to us by close friends and we could not have been happier with our choice.
Paola and Valerio, the young owners, were very attentive to all of our needs. They recommended great restaurants, excursions to nearby towns, arranged horseback riding, held a cooking class for us, fixed gourmet breakfasts and dinners and were very friendly.
Its location between San Gimignano and Volterra is perfectly situated for seeing the most beautiful parts of Tuscany. The pool was very nice, but the weather a little cool for swimming in early June. I would return to this idyllic spot in a heartbeat.
We have always loved Tuscany but this was just the best trip we have had. The villa is beautifully situated in typical Tuscan countryside and well placed for trips to Siena, Florence and Pisa as well as the more local towns of San Gimignano and Volterra.
The villa is delighfully appointed and is ideal for a family bash. (We took the whole villa for a fiftieth birthday celebration.) We had our individual privacy but were easily able to have fun together.
Paola and Valerio were stunning hosts and their cooking and general attention to our needs were first class without ever being intrusive. We just can't wait to go back!
