Discovering the Medieval Village

Continuing uphill, you’ll reach the majestic Villa di Pignano. From here, two paths unfold:
(1) To the right, a trail through the woods leads to an ancient stone quarry, once used to build local farmhouses and even the stairs of the Roman Theater in Volterra.
(2) Alternatively, enter the medieval village, enclosed by walls dating back to the year 1000, and visit the striking Church of San Bartolomeo the Apostle.

Return Amid Vineyards and Bucolic Landscapes

The return journey offers captivating views of the Tuscan countryside. Along the way, you’ll pass the Pignano riding stables, orderly rows of vineyards, and a centuries-old country cemetery, echoing the stories of times gone by.
